Favorite High School Memories ...

Sweet Home High School Class of 1984

Believe it or not, my favorite high school memory was getting up at 5am and going to dance team practice. It was a blast getting ready for school with all of my friends as I’m shoveling two donuts from the student store down my face. I would love to be able to do that now! I remember getting into trouble all the time from Mr. Johnson for hugging and kissing everyone. It was also fun making the Ramones Car and driving it around, singing 99 Red Balloons (he knows the “other” lyrics) to Eric (Ear-ache) Vermillion, Calling Doug Villines “Dog nuts” and then taking off running because he would turn me upside down by my feet when he caught me. (Which he did at the 10 year and I was wearing a dress! Thank you very much! You would think I would learn!). I loved making up new songs to Tony Babcock, singing Dean Winkler’s theme song to him that Sheila Spencer and I made up for him in first grade, making Jay Marble laugh hard every day in Dickerson’s class, Richard Dysinger (Dickie Dale) telling me stories of things that he did to my younger brother in shop class and totally making me cry, trying to cheat off Mark Mullholland’s Algebra papers (bribing him with packs of gum), Chrystl Johnson and I doing the theme song to “My Three Sons” to our English teacher (who’s name escapes me right now, but he wore the same shoes) and getting kicked out every day – but I still got an A, working out in PE with Donald Sayers and Mike McConnell, Calling Mike “Monte” and Monte “Mike” even though I had known them since 1 st grade at church and I could tell them apart, and getting obnoxious with Chrystl (Rito), Amanda, Stephanie (Sissiny), in any class I had with them.  Cheryl Meyers and I stuffed bananas in the tailpipe of a competing basketball team (we were still in our dance team uniforms) and the bus was stuck in the parking lot for hours – remember that??? I remember one time (one???) when the entire dance team mooned passing cars on the way back from a competition (Karri Keenon was probably the only innocent in the group) and we all got into BIG trouble. Sandy, Chrystl, Kyla, Lori Debord, Karri Keenon and I used to gather as much spare change as we could to go cruising in Lebanon and Albany in Sandy’s gas hog Chevy Nova. Also, I almost got suspended because someone’s parent called the school and told on me because I left a message to give to a student about senior skip day!

I still think of all my high school friends (by their pegged nicknames) and am always wondering how everyone is doing. I loved high school and cannot wait to see everyone!
